About Scarlet Tantrum 〰️
Scarlet Tantrum is a 21 year old emerging artist from rural Carthage, North Carolina, and she’s a staple in the local live music scene. Scarlet Tantrum, as you may have guessed, is a stage name, something Laura decided to create early on. Scarlet represents her naturally red hair, which bolsters her spunky look. Tantrum represents an outburst of expression, a theme which is present throughout her music.
Scarlet blends today’s pop with yesterday’s rock. Growing up, her family always had 90’s and 2000’s alt-rock playing, and its mark is heard in her music’s electric guitar riffs and catchy melodies. Also influenced by the likes of Hayley Williams, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and Halsey, the artist delivers bold, emotional statements with her lyrics.
Music is Scarlet’s emotional outlet. Whether listening to her favorite artists or writing her own songs, it helps her heal. She hopes that her audience can find solace in her music, that she can give to others what other artists give to her.
Scarlet Tantrum wasn’t always the larger than life vocal powerhouse. She was once a shy little girl with a huge love for music. Scarlet didn't grow up in a musical household, but she always dreamed of singing, so she began vocal lessons early in life. At 13, Scarlet bought her own ukulele and taught herself to play. Soon enough, she was writing songs of her own. Songwriting changed Scarlet forever—for the better. It gave the artist a voice even when she didn't feel heard. When she received her first guitar on her 16th birthday, she fell even deeper into love with songwriting.
For years, Scarlet kept her talent to herself. She dreamed of being a singer, a rockstar, but fear held her back. As time went on, her drive to perform grew, and she decided that she had to try. There could be no success without an attempt, and at eighteen, Scarlet put herself out there and started chasing her dreams.
Though she was terrified, she pushed through the anxiety and got up on stage. With each performance, her confidence grew and it got a little easier. Soon enough, she was bravely performing in crowded venues all across North Carolina, gaining new fans every step of the way.
Today, Scarlet is a confident woman, and she isn't afraid to stand out. She has built a following on social media and has played venues such as Nashville’s Opry Mills and The Electric Jane. She has opened for the renowned country artist, Kim Richey. She records music and releases it for the world to hear. Most of all, she is her unadulterated self.
